COMPANY HISTORY
Before its 2009 acquisition by Insituform, The Bayou Companies was a third generation, family-owned business for over 65 years. Established by E.S. "Ed" Shea, Sr. as Bayou Welding Works, Bayou began as a one man, one welding truck operation in 1942.
FAMILY HISTORY
In the late 1940's, Ed Shea's two sons, Jerry Shea, Sr. and E.S. "Buddy" Shea, Jr. joined the family business. Both graduates in Petroleum Engineering from Louisiana State University, the two brothers began a long and successful business partnership which resulted in steady growth of The Bayou Companies over the next forty years.
Bayou Management Services, Inc. was formed in an effort to consolidate the administration of the various operating companies. Jerry Shea, Jr., Stewart Shea and Jimmy Shea, the three grandsons of Ed Shea, Sr., the company founder, became the principal administrative officers of the new entity.
Today, Jerry serves as the President of Bayou and many other fourth generation Shea family members are involved in the day-to-day operations at The Bayou Companies. With the addition of quality personnel as well as fourth generation family members to help guide Bayou into the future, Bayou will continue to grow and adapt to the ever-changing needs of the oil and gas pipeline industry.
